Bill-Becky-Shannon, Just wanted to let you know I completed my Tele install--L90 6H in bridge and L45S in neck. Would like you to know I was very unsure about what tone these would have. I faithfully researched every soundclip and review I could find. I was confused after listening to Bill's and Ron's soundclips. They are both excellent players but Bill's clip sounded sterile(no doubt due to video/sound quality) and Ron's sounded overly bright/twangy/trebley.(IMHO-great player but not the type of music I prefer) Upon installation I conclude that you can get these pickups to sound almost anyway you want. They are like clear/fresh spring water and you can mix them/color them anyway you would like. They handle any effects pedal, EQ, type of playing/picking you can throw at them, better than any other pickup I have encountered.(Gibson,Fender,Rio Grande,etc.) And they handle it with the ability to always return to that clean/clear/full/articulate sound any time you want. I'm a believer.

I had to laugh when I read the reprint of Bill's post to the Steel Guitar Forum (link on home page) when he mentioned that, "...Becky takes the edges out of my writing." It reminded me of my phone conversation with Bill many years ago. He asked me what I knew about pickups and before one complete sentence came out of my mouth, he stated, "You know nothing about pickups!" I was not offended or knocked down by the somewhat gruff response, but listened intently as he briefly explained what I needed to know. I was so pleased that his passion for his science and art is passed on readily to those of us who only thought they had an understanding of pickups.

Bill, Beck & family.. As an active musician of 35+ years, all I will and have ever used are your 500C/500XL, they give the tonal quality and clarity I've come to trust using your product.. I'll be buying another set for my new Les Paul... Steve
